| GUI Solutions
was formed in July 1991 by three software engineers who
worked for Hughes Aircraft Company. While working in
the aerospace industry, the three had worked on large-scale
client-server database systems that included a Graphical
User Interface (GUI). In 1991, Windows 3.0 was
released and SQL database products were becoming available
for the PC. The founders of GUI saw the opportunity to
provide powerful, easy to use database systems to the
masses.
Initially, GUI developed two Windows based products for the health care industry. The first product was a nutritional analysis program for use by health care facilities. This product was marketed under the name Three Squares™ . The product was also private labeled by the second largest food service company in the US and the second largest company in Canada. GUI sold this product to SureQuest Systems, a publicly traded company, in 1998. In addition to the health care products, GUI has developed database-oriented systems for a wide variety of customers, large and small. GUI's customers have included First American Financial, Houston General Insurance Company, Microsoft, Mosby-Times Mirror and Pulte Homes, as well as smaller local companies.
